From my Topographica collection, a vibrant, living portrait of the incredible little bundles of joy known as peptides.
Peptides are small chains of amino acids that, as it turns out, can do just about anything.
Research indicates that bioactive peptides can lower high blood pressure, kill microbes, reduce inflammation, prevent the formation of blood clots, improve immune function, and act as antioxidants.
But it looks like that's just the start. They may actually control our emotions as well!
There was this fantastic neuroimmunologist named Candace Pert, who researched the link between peptides and emotions, and in her book Molecules of Emotion demonstrated that there is a biomolecular basis for all emotions, and peptides are the key.
From the book description:
Her pioneering research on how the chemicals inside our bodies form a dynamic information network, linking mind and body, is not only provocative, it is revolutionary. By establishing the biomolecular basis for our emotions and explaining these new scientific developments in a clear and accessible way, Pert empowers us to understand ourselves, our feelings, and the connection between our minds and our bodies -- body-minds -- in ways we could never possibly have imagined before.
It's an eye-opening book, and well worth the $12.99 that Amazon's asking for it.
This poster has a partly glossy, partly matte finish and it'll add a touch of sophistication to any room.
• 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick
• Slightly glossy
• Fingerprint resistant
